Zoledronic acid infusions are administered in our purpose-built infusion room by experienced nurses, supervised by one of our haematologists.

Our nurses are all experienced haematology nurses, with expertise in inserting cannulas and administering treatments. If you have 'difficult veins' or have had a previous failed infusion, please let us know at the time of booking.

We provide infusions for adults 16 years and older. If your doctor has recommended an infusion, you will need a referral to one of our doctors.

Infusions are by appointment only at our rooms in Hunter Street. There is a gap fee of $80 for the service. Note: you will not be able to claim the gap fee from your insurance.

Referrals

We will process the referral and send you a confirmation SMS with a link to book your infusion. Alternatively, you can call the rooms directly to book your appointment.

Prescription

Zoledronic acid is only funded by the PBS in certain situations. Your doctor will have given you a prescription. You will need to bring the zoledronic acid with you to the appointment. Most community pharmacies can order it for you, but some may need a couple of days warning.

If you don't have a prescription, our doctors can provide one after they have had a chance to look at your referral.

Fees

We are a privately-billing practice and are unable to bulk-bill infusions.

As part of the infusion process, our doctors will provide a consultation to confirm consent and appropriateness for the infusion. This consultation qualifies for a Medicare rebate.

You will not be able to claim the gap between the fee and the Medicare rebate from your private health insurance.

The fees differ for each infusion, depending on the complexity and time taken. The fees below do not include pharmacy dispensing fees for your medication.
